Germany’s renewable energy industry has again shown its strength, shattering through another solar power record, as utility company RWE announces it will close fossil fuel power plants as they are no longer competitive.
RWE said 3.1 GW of generating capacity would be taken offline, as it suspends or shuts down some of its gas and coal-fired power stations. This represents 6% of RWE’s total capacity.
It said a boom in solar energy meant many of its power stations were no longer profitable.
RWE’s statement read:
Parents could be wasting hundreds of dollars on “unnecessary” toddler milks that can contain more sugar and less calcium than cows’ milk, the consumer group Which? has said in a recent publication.
A survey found that almost half (46%) of mothers with a child over the age of one used toddler or “growing up” milk, despite health professionals regularly advising parents that a healthy diet including cows’ milk provides a young child’s required nutrition.
The short answer: Whilst it is usually preferable to limit exposure to chemical pesticides, it is important to recognize that not all fruit and vegetables are created equal. With some produce it really matters where it grew and how it was farmed. Continue reading
